Description
The land extends to approximately 117.3 acres in total and comprises a substantial block of mixed woodland together with a single enclosure of permanent pasture with some mature oak trees, of approximately 12 acres.
The woodland is a mixture of established conifers interspersed with birch, sycamore, oak and other broad leaves species.
The land is served by a network of pathways. Within the woodland are the remains of a former brick built structure, now roofless, and a further dilapidated outbuilding of corrugated construction with the remnants of stone walls.
This building falls within the site of a Scheduled Monument (Historic England List entry 1002250), believed to be among the largest iron producing complexes in the entire Roman Empire and the site includes remains of a Roman bath house.
